Make an Appointment

The Ferndale Food Bank now uses an appointment system for shopping. You can make this appointment ahead of time or once you are on site to shop for same day.

  • You can make an appointment online from home.

  • You’ll know exactly what time you can shop.

  • You can spend less time waiting on site to shop.

How to make an appointment:

Everyone needs an appointment each week. This can be made ahead of time OR once you arrive at the food bank that same day.

  • Appointments are in 5-minute time slots, with 7 households per slot.

  • You can only make one appointment per shopper each week.

    • If you are shopping for multiple households, you only need to book one appointment.

Shopping for others?

You can shop for up to 2 other households

  • Just make one appointment.

  • Fill out a check-in slip for each household you are shopping for. At the front desk, turn in the the slip for each household.

  • If any of the households you are shopping for have not been to the food bank before, you will need to turn in a New Client form for them. You can fill this out ahead of time here.

On distribution day:

  • Come 15 minutes before your time, and fill out a check-in slip with your name and household size.

  • When your time is called, go to the front and get a cart.

  • Turn in your check in slip (and check in slips for any other households you’re shopping for) at the front desk to register.

  • Now you’re ready to shop!

  • If you’re more than 5 minutes late to your appointment, your spot is canceled. You’ll need to make a new appointment for that day or go to the Check-In table to reschedule.

When to make your appointment:

  • We are open for distribution from 9AM-11AM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.

  • Time slots open on a rolling basis 8 days before the bookable distribution.

    • For example, the 9AM time slot for a Wednesday will open at 9AM the Tuesday beforehand. The 9:05 time slot will open at 9:05, and so on.

  • Everyone is required to have an appointment to shop, but it is not required to make an appointment before you come. You can always make a walk-in appointment when you arrive. We will never be “fully booked” for distribution. As long as you arrive between 9AM and 11AM on a day that we are open, we will be able to make an appointment to get food on the same day.

Need help making an appointment?

  • Come to the Check-In table in the breezeway at 9 AM.

  • A volunteer will help you make an appointment for that day. You will receive a reservation reminder.

  • You can leave and come back 15 minutes before your time.
